Mount Baker, Snoqualmie Falls, Sugarloaf, Jay Peak. I’ve seen them all over and something about them is a throwback: some 1970s idea of tiny chalet. But there they are, and there’s always an old truck and a stream of woodsmoke, and a pile of skis by the door. I’ve always wanted one.
